FIFA World Cup 2018 starts today with the host team - Russia playing against Saudi Arabia, that being said the war among the telecom providers has also begun. Airtel, Jio and Vodafone are battling out to gain a maximum number of viewers glued to their streaming services.

Airtel is providing their subscribers live broadcast of the football tournament which will be available in different local languages besides English and Hindi on Airtel TV. To compete with its rival Jio, Airtel will also be giving the users an exclusive access for the behind-the-scenes match snippets, match previews and reviews.

Coming to Reliance Jio, the telecom provider addressed the 186 million subscribers that World Cup matches will be streamed live on Jio TV at zero cost. Moreover, India’s leading network giant will also be streaming live updates of the India-Afghanistan test match.

While Vodafone India has launched a game contest based on the FIFA World Cup – ‘Get Set Goal’ where users will get a chance to win iPad mini on recharges and 1 lucky winner will get a travel voucher worth Rs.1 lakh.

The same spirit of competition was earlier seen during the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, where Jio introduced IPL pack worth Rs. 251 providing users with 2GB of 4G data for streaming the entire season. On the other hand, BSNL also provided a similar recharge plan as Jio but with a bigger data plan giving users 3GB data per day worth Rs. 248. While Airtel gave free access to their subscribers during the IPL season.
