Mumbai, August 22: The Covid-19 epidemic brought in a new culture of working from home, first forcibly and later voluntarily for others. Employers were forced to permit remote work in order to protect their workforce. Nonetheless, a number of firms have implemented working from office policies in the last 12 months or so. Among them is Meta, which has a three-day rule for working from the office. It appears that workers are disobeying that regulation, nevertheless.

The head of people at Meta, Lori Goler, reportedly wrote a message alerting staff members to the policy, as reported by Business Insider. WhatsApp Update: Meta-Owned Messaging Platform Working on New Text Formatting Tools.

Decline in Performance, Sacking and More

"Managers will review badge and Status Tool information on a monthly basis and follow up with those who didn't meet the requirement, subject to local law and works council requirements," Goler stated in a recent memo to the employees of the tech giant, as reported by Business Insider. While different parts of Meta have varying work from office rules, 'three days' is often the norm. Numerous other IT businesses also adhere to it. Google and Apple both have a three-day work from office policy in place.

Goler advised staff members to adhere to the work from office policy and issued a warning to anyone who might consider doing otherwise. Repeated violations may result in disciplinary action, including a performance rating drop and, ultimately, termination if not addressed, the document stated. WhatsApp New Feature: Meta-Owned Messaging Platform Rolling Out Forwarding Message Feature for Channels on Android and iOS.

Not that Meta is forcing everyone to report to work. The organisation employs "remote" employees, who are instructed to avoid going into the office for more than four days every two months, according to reports.
