Kids have something to look forward to. Facebook’s popular Messenger Kids app will now be available on Android. The app was already available on Ios and Amazon Fire tablets. The target audience of the app is 6- to 12- year old children and doesn’t come with in-app purchases or hide options- which enable parents to have more control over any unwanted or derogatory messages.

The description on Play Store claims that the app helps kids have more fun. Facebook has also introduced fun and colourful stickers for kids other than GIFs, frames and emojis. Facebook says that the objective behind giving the kids these options is to help kids “creatively express themselves.” Interactive AR masks with one-to-one video calls are also a feature in this app.

The regular Messenger app asks for the mobile number of users. The Kids version will not ask for mobile number. It will also not make it mandatory for kids to have Facebook account. Parents and verified grown-ups will have the facility of verifying and monitoring the kids account to know what activities kids are involved in on the app. If the Kids want, they can block contacts and report any inappropriate messages or content in the app. The parent or guardian will be immediately notified about the kids activity on app.
