A Facebook official said that while there is no virus attached to the message, it should not be forwarded. Daily Mail quoted the official as saying, "We've heard that some people are seeing posts or messages about accounts being cloned on Facebook. It takes the form of a 'chain mail' type of notice."

Plaquemines Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in Louisiana took to Facebook urging users to stop forwarding the hoax message. Here is their Facebook post:

Your Facebook account is cloned when someone creates an account similar to that of yours stealing your pictures, videos and other personal information. It then sends out friend requests to people from your existing friend list. Cloned Facebook accounts also sent out fake messages to people.

While this message doesn't carry a virus, it is advisable to delete it. In case of any confusion relating to your Facebook account, you should contact Facebook support care.
