Facebook Dating Feature Announced at F8 Developer Conference; Oculus Go VR Headset Launched at $199

Facebook has announced new dating feature, Oculus Go, new WhatsApp feature, Instagram Video calling feature and more at F8 Developer Conference.

Mark Zukerberg, CEO of a leading social networking platform - Facebook officially announced the introduction of slew of new tools and services for Facebook at the annual F8 2018 conference. These tools and services will be introduced for improving the social network for better and improved experience. The new dating feature from Facebook will directly take on Tinder which will be offered as an opt-in feature. The new dating feature on Facebook will proffer the users to create all-new dating profile which will be different from the regular Facebook profile.

Once the dating profile is created, the user will receive recommendations for potential matches that will be based on dating preferences, mutual friends, common things, and much more. The feature will also provide option to look for people beyond the recommendations with similar interests via Groups or Events. The company said that more information about the new dating feature will be provided later this year when the beta version is introduced.

Mark Zukerberg mentioned that this new dating feature on Facebook will be introduced for building real and long term relationships. However, there is no official word from the company if this feature will be offered as a free service as it will be easier to find more reliable matches with mutual friends.

Alongside the new dating feature, Facebook has also announced that it will be improving its privacy controls for ensuring the information of the users. Facebook also introduced a new video calling feature in Instagram for calling friends and families. Focusing more on futuristic technologies, the Facebook also announced Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) allowing the brands to integrate AR camera effects into Messenger. The company finally also launched highly awaited standalone Virtual Reality (VR) headset - Oculus Go with a price tag of $199.
