Facebook, a leading social media giant might find itself in another trouble after the data sharing controversy. Ever since the Cambridge Analytica scandal broke out to public, Facebook has been extensively criticized for alleged harvesting and using personal data of the users. Amidst all these, Facebook is yet against surrounded by another goof up wherein a bug reportedly changed users sharing settings to default - public from private. Facebook Says Privacy-Setting Bug Affected As Many As 14 Million Users.
Facebook has confirmed that about 14 million users have been affected by this bug while the company was testing a new feature. However, the company discovered the bug and changed the privacy settings of all the users shared during that particular time frame. It took 5 days for the company to change the privacy settings for all posts.
Moreover, the affected users will be notifies on the app or website from Thursday wherein the company will urge the users to review their posts. The notification will further lead the user to a list of posts shared on the platform while the bug was active.
Here are some steps that you can follow to check the privacy settings of your posts.
1. Login to your Facebook account by filling up the necessary credentials.
2. After log in, go to top-right end corner and click on the arrow pointing in the downward direction and go to settings.
3. After selecting settings, select 'Privacy' option given on the left side corner.
4. Then click on the first option under Your Activity - 'Who can see your future posts'. You can decide the audience for your future posts by selecting from public, friends, friends except, only me and more.
