Austin, November 11: Elon Musk's social platform X is reportedly testing a free version of the Grok AI chatbot. So far, the xAI-developed chatbot was available for the X Premium and X Premium+ users. However, the limitations would end once the platform rolls it out for all the users. The Grok rivals, including ChatGPT, Meta AI powered by Llama 3.2 and Google's Gemini, are available free but up to an extent.

Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot has not been available to most users and according to a report by TechCrunch, X is preparing the free version of Grok. The report said that many users across the regions received the Grok free version and posted about it on the X platform. The title of the screenshots shared by the users included a short window for starting the conversation and "Try Grok for free now". JioHostar Domain for Free: Owner Siblings Jainam and Jivika Announce Offering JioHostar.com Without Any Charges if Reliance Is ‘Interested’.

The shared screenshots also included details about Grok with text and image generation capabilities. A user posted eligibility criteria for the X accounts to get the Grok AI chatbot. The user said that the account on X should be older than 7 years and that the user must have associated a mobile number with that account.

After such accounts received access to Grok, they could get 10 Grok 2 questions per two hours and 20 questions of Grok 2 mini per two hours. Recently, Elon Musk's xAI released a new image generation capability that offers users more interactions beyond test results. All these features were available to the X Premium and Premium+ users; however, they may be rolled out soon for accounts meeting the needed criteria. The report mentioned that xAI may be looking for more feedback on its artificial intelligence.
