In 2022, Twitter (now called X) laid off people from security, trust and safety teams. Now, the company aims to hire engineers with software, machine learning, quality, backend and security expertise. Elon Musk's X posted several jobs last month as well to hire people in its cybersecurity and safety teams. The platform hires threat security specialists and engineers to work on its services. The tech billionaire spent USD 44 billion to acquire Twitter and started laying off employees in the coming months. He reportedly told BBC in April 2023 that his Twitter reduced 6,000 employees in six months, leaving only 1,500 employees standing once the layoffs were over.

Twitter layoffs were mainly around the trust and safety team, but as of January 2024, X said 80% of the total workforce was affected since Elon Musk's buyout of the platform. Recently, Elon Musk announced that he was hiring for his other companies, including xAI and Tesla. xAI required employees who could jump on the development of AI chatbot Grok, among other things, like developing AGI (artificial general intelligence) and other projects. On the other hand, Tesla announced hiring trainers for its humanoid robot Optimus.
