Elon Musk Files New Lawsuit Against ChatGPT Maker OpenAI and Sam Altmam: Report

Elon Musk has reportedly filed a new federal lawsuit against OpenAI and its leaders, Sam Altman and Gregory Brockman, accusing them of betraying OpenAI's original nonprofit mission for commercial profits through alliances like the one with Microsoft.

New Delhi, August 6: Elon Musk has reportedly filed a new lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman. Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, previously sued the company in February, accusing it of abandoning its nonprofit mission by reserving advanced AI technology for private clients. The lawsuit, which was dropped in June after OpenAI published old emails from Elon Musk. The new lawsuit reportedly targets OpenAI ceo Sam Altman and co-founder Gregory Brockman, alleging their activities for commercial profits and betrayal.

As per a report of CNN, a similar allegation is made in another lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Gregory Brockman. The first lawsuit had been filed in a Californian state court while the new one is in a federal court in Northern California. The new lawsuit is reportedly almost double in length compared to the previous lawsuit and accuses OpenAI and its leaders of constructing a self-dealing for-profit network of affiliates. The lawsuit alleges that through partnering with Microsoft, OpenAI has exploited this non-profit resources and personnel. As per reports, Elon Musk’s lawyer Marc Toberoff said “This lawsuit bursts Defendants hot-air philanthropy and holds them accountable for their misrepresentations to Musk and the public”. The Federal Trade Commission is also investigating OpenAI’s possible violations of consumer protection laws, according to multiple reports. A probe was also conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission to determine whether OpenAI investors were misled.
