New Delhi, October 28: The Delhi Government is reportedly working on a new initiative to handle e-challans for traffic violations. Soon, vehicle owners in Delhi may be able to pay their vehicle challans for traffic violations directly through WhatsApp. The smart payment system may allow traffic violators to settle fines easily. The Delhi Government is expected to streamline the payment of e-challans by integrating WhatsApp into the payment system.
As per a report of the Economic Times, the Delhi Government is working to roll out a smart payment system for vehicle challans for traffic violations via WhatsApp. The smart system is expected to provide notifications about fines and give users a streamlined process to complete payments directly from their WhatsApp accounts. The government of Delhi has reportedly announced a tender to find a service provider that can create a solution using WhatsApp Business and an Application Programming Interface (API) for managing fines related to traffic violations, according to a report of the Times of India.
The service provider is said to create a system that will allow the transport department to send payment links directly to people's mobile phones through WhatsApp. The system is expected to automatically send a message to anyone who breaks traffic rules and will provide them with information about the violation and the amount of the fine they need to pay.
As per reports, Delhi has about 82 lakh active vehicles on the roads, and each day, around 1,000 to 1,500 e-challans are issued for traffic violations. At the moment, people use the government's Parivahan e-challan website to pay their fines. According to reports, the WhatsApp payment feature will include the ability to make challan payments through various UPI apps such as BHIM, Google Pay, and others. The integration will likely enable people to pay their traffic fines quickly and conveniently. The messages sent via WhatsApp is said to be available in Hindi and English with different formats, including images, PDFs, and videos.
