New Delhi, July 16: Cybercriminals have reportedly hacked the server of Nainital Bank Limited's branch in Noida's Sector 62, leading to a significant loss of INR 16.71 crore. The alleged incident highlights the need for improving security measures to protect sensitive information and prevent such attacks in the future. Reports indicate that investigations are underway and there is a hope that the stolen funds might be recovered.

As per a report of India Today, cybercriminals hacked into the server of a Noida bank and stole INR 16.71 crore. On June 17, the IT manager of the bank, Sumit Shrivastava, found out about a theft during a regular check of the bank's balance sheet. He noticed that there was a difference of INR 3.60 crore in the RTGS account. The bank is now investigating the incident. After conducting an investigation, it was found that the bank's server was hacked. The unauthorised access to the bank's server allowed the hackers to execute fraudulent transfers. The bank reached out to CERT-IN for assistance in conducting a thorough investigation. Sumit Shrivastava, the bank's IT manager, also lodged a complaint with the Noida Cyber Crime Police Station on July 10. Vivek Ranjan Rai, the Additional Commissioner of Police, Cyber Noida, provided further details, stating that the hackers gained unauthorised access to the bank manager's login ID and password. They then used it to access and transferred the stolen funds to 89 different accounts.
