Austin, August 12: CrowdStrike, the American cybersecurity company, responsible for the Microsoft outage, has reportedly accepted an award for "Most Epic Fail" at Pwnie Awards. The global IT outage was caused by an update of CrowdStrike's Falcon Sensor. It caused worldwide disruptions in the Windows operating system, triggering a 'Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error to appear on several computers wiping out the data of the system.

CrowdStrike President Michael Sentonas Accepting 'Most Epic Fail' Award at Pwnie Awards

During the Pwnie Awards that recognises the companies with "excellence" and "incompetence" performance in the information technology field, CrowdStrike accepted an award for "Most Epic Fail". The Pwnie Award took place during the 2024 Def Con event.

CrowsStrike's President, Michael Sentonas, is seen receiving this award by going on the stage and delivering a speech of acceptance. Sentonas said, "Got this horribly wrong," suggesting at the Microsoft global outage caused by company's cybersecurity software update. However, he also promised to ensure that such problems would not arise again.
