CrowdStrike Outage Update: Cybersecurity Firm’s Senior VP Adam Meyers to Testify Before US House of Representatives on September 24

New York, September 1: The Microsoft global outage, caused by the CrowdStrike software update, has been discussed and criticised for many days since the users experienced a Windows crash on their systems showing BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). After acknowledging that the issue was caused by CrowdStrike, the company executives are ready to testify before Congress on the Global IT outage.

Mark Green, US representative and chair of the Homeland Security committee, said the CrowdStrike outage significantly impacted Americans and critical sectors of the economy ranging from aviation to medical services. Therefore, he said to restore confidence in IT that underpinned the service that US citizens depend on daily.

The committee had also sent a letter to CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz asking him to testify against the issue that caused the outage. The July 19 outage hit many sectors globally, including airlines, healthcare, hotel chains, banking and financial institutes, media companies, businesses and individuals. 

Reports said that around 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices were affected due to internet service disruption. The outage affected the revenues of both CrowdStrike and Microsoft, leading to a loss in the share market. Delta Air Lines opened a new tab and vowed to take legal action against CrowdStrike, which forced it to cancel 7,000 flights. CrowdStrike rejected Delta Air Lines' contention and opened a new tab that could be blamed for the flight disruption. On September 24, the American cybersecurity firm's executive will testify and respond to the committee about the massive disruption in global services.
