New Delhi, August 28: The Supreme Court of India has reportedly filed a cyber crime complaint against a scammer posing as Chief Justice of India Chandrachud. The SC filed a complaint after the message went viral on social media and CJI Chandrachud took a screenshot of it. The cybercrime complaint was filed in New Delhi against a social media handle that posed as the Chief Justice and asked for money for cab fare.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the complaint was filed by the security department of the Supreme Court of India after Sunday's viral message on social media about a fraudster posing as CJI Chandrachud. Kailash Meghwal, an X user, has been identified whom this fraud account holder of CJI Chandrachud asked to give 500 rupees to get a cab to attend a Collegium meeting. Besides, the scammer also promised the user to return the money after reaching the Supreme Court. The report said that as per the post on X, the imposter was "stranded" at Connaught Place (CP) in Delhi.

The scammer's message read - "Hello, I am CJI and we have urgent meeting of the collegium and I am stuck at Connaught Place can you send me 500rs for cab?".
