Mumbai, July 10: Telecom companies, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, recently announced their tariff hikes, leading to a 25% rise in the prices of the new 5G unlimited plans. As Reliance Jio leads the telecommunication market with a significant market share, companies like Airtel and Vi introduced their updated plans last month after its announcement. However, the Indian government-owned BSNL telecom company introduced relief from the price increase in mobile calling and data plans.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited launched a new 4G plan of INR 249 that offered higher benefits than the existing 5G plans. BSNL's new affordable 4G plan included more validity in days and internet data per day than the 5G companies' increased data plans. However, BSNL plans are affordable and may not offer higher speed than the 5G networkable. Reliance Jio IPO: After Jio Tariff Hikes and 5G Monetisation, Company Preparing for India’s Largest IPO, Says Report

Amid the rising telecom tariff rates in India, BSNL's latest strategic move aimed to attract more customers. The company offered longer validity and internet data at lower cost to position itself as a customer-friendly alternative in the telecommunication market, according to a report by Times of IndiaAirtel New Plan July 2024: After Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel Announces Hike in Mobile Tariffs Effective From July 3; Check New Rates.

BSNL Recharge Plan of INR 249; Validity and Internet Data

BSNL's New 4G recharge plan of INR 249 offered a validity of 45 days, compared to the 28 days offered by the other telecom service providers in India. The newly launched BSNL recharge plan also provided 2GB of internet data per day as a data allowance, compared to the other companies that offered 1GB of internet data per day. The strategic move may attract customers who find tariff hikes expensive or not as affordable as before.
