New York, June 4: Avalanche Studios Group, known for its gaming titles like Just Cause and Mad Max games, has announced that it will lay off 50 employees and close two studios. Avalanche Studios Group called the layoffs a difficult decision but said it was necessary for stability and sustainability.

The message informed that the Avalanche Studios layoffs would affect 50 employees, comprising 9% of the total workforce. The company referred to the affected employees as "valued friends and colleagues." The message also highlighted that the layoffs would be global. 

Regarding the Avalanche Studios Group layoffs, the message emphasised, "This is a tough decision, but we believe that it's necessary to ensure a stable and sustainable future for the company." The company explained that its focus would be to support the 'Avalanchers' through the challenging times. 

Avalanche Studios Group thanked the affected for their invaluable contribution to the company. The studio said it was grateful for the people's creation of "incredible gaming experiences" for the players. 

In 2024, the layoffs in the gaming industry have significantly affected people. According to a report by IGN, an estimated 10,000 developers were affected by the gaming layoffs in 2023. The report also mentioned that gaming giants like Microsoft, EA, Sony, and Riot would lay off many people in 2024.
