Asus has made some constant efforts to gain market share in the mid-range as well as entry-level flagship segments. Design: The smartphone looks very appealing and premium from every angle, thanks to its glass metal body. The company has seamlessly used glass metal sandwich design featuring a Gorilla Glass 6 upfront and Gorilla Glass 3 at the rear. The bezel-less display and thin chin at the bottom gives the phone a neat look. The overall design of the Asus 6Z looks eye-catching, which is further accentuated by positioning volume rockers, power key and Smart Key ideally on the right side. At the bottom, the phone packs speaker, headphone jack, microphone and charging point. The earpiece sits at the top of the display that is also used as a secondary speaker. The company has also managed to integrate a LED notification light in the bezel.

Display: Asus’ current flagship device comes with 6.4-inch FHD+ NanoEdge IPS display offering 92 percent screen-to-body ratio and 2340x1080 pixels of resolution. Moreover, the display also gets capacitive touch panels with up to 10 points multi-touch. Being a LCD panel, it isn’t the best displays in the segment, but it manages to serve the purpose quite efficiently. The company’s choice to add an LCD panel instead of OLED seems to be purely cost driven and it is slightly a let-down here.

Camera: The motorised flip camera module is another highlight of the device, wherein the users can use the same two cameras for selfies and video calling. The setup uses a stepper, which is controllable and can be stopped at any angle giving seamless access to the users for a perfect shot. The dual rear module comprises of a 48MP IMX586 sensor with phase detection and laser autofocus along with a 13MP ultra wide sensor.

Though the flip camera module is a plus point here, but its long-term durability and reliability remains a question. However, we didn’t face any issues with the motor, it managed to engage smoothly throughout. As far as the image quality is concerned, the sensor manages to capture great shots in most of the lighting scenarios.

Processor: Being a flagship offering from Asus, the company has managed to bring top-notch hardware – Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm. The chipset is clubbed with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal space. Ensuring seamless gaming and user experience, the Adreno 640 GPU with the octa-core processor managed to run all apps and games without any hitch at the highest graphic settings. The base variant comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal space. The mid-variant with 128GB storage is also available at the price of Rs 34,999. The top-of-the-line model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage costs Rs 39,999.

Battery: The Asus 6Z packs a massive 5000 mAh battery, which makes the smartphone look pretty bulky, which stands at 9.2mm. However, it is worth mentioning that despite such a massive battery incorporated at the back, the phone weighs only 190 gms. Such massive battery bundled with a Quick Charge 4 supporting up to 18W charging is a real deal here. The charger can easily charge the device up to 40 percent in merely 30 minutes that can easily last for a day.

Software: Coming to software, this is one area where the company has really focused and improvised by offering Android 9.0 OS. The company managed to give stock Android experience with ZenUI, which is nearly looks like Android One. Another plus point on the software front is that the company managed to keep the interface is bloatware free, however, there are some customisation options. The smartphone also comes with some handy software additions like black mode, AI boost, game genie and screen recorder. Another plus point is that the device will also be receiving Android Q OS updates.
