Cupertino, October 14: Apple Vision Pro is a mixed reality (MR) headset that supports both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). It was launched this year at USD 3,499 (around INR 2.94 lakh). The device exclusively supported the Spatial videos created by the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone Pro Max, and the newly launched iPhone 16 series. Despite its capabilities, the device cost so much for some people, which reportedly affected its sales.

Amid rumours that Apple plans to launch a cheap version of Vision Pro 2 and AR glasses, a report by Bloomberg said that the tech giant could launch the device at a lower price. The report said that Apple Vision Pro 2 could likely cost around USD 2,000, which is not that cheap compared to the USD 3,499 price tag. The report mentioned that Apple had shut down its car project, and the Vision Pro did not capture the market as expected. Apple Likely To Introduce Meta-Like Smart Glasses and Camera-Equipped AirPods in 2027.

Mark Zuckerberg took on Vision Pro and said Meta Quest 3 was more valuable and better than Apple's mixed reality headset. Meta CEO also added that it costs much less than Vision Pro. Bloomberg said that Apple would focus more on the hardware of the upcoming mixed reality headset and yet develop a device that would cost lower than the current price.

To achieve the lower price, Apple would reportedly use cheaper materials, less powerful processor and might skip the EyeSight feature that showed the users' eyes outside the headset. The report said that the Vision Pro will arrive in 2025. Following this launch, the tech giant will introduce its highly anticipated smart glasses, similar to the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, in 2027, along with the AirPods with a camera. Apple Accused by NLRB of Restricting Workers’ Social Media Use, Fired Employee for Using Slack in Workplace, Tech Giant Denies Allegations.

The report said that Apple did not succeed with its home strategy but would work on an 'iPad-like' screen that might be placed around Apple TVs, FaceTime calls, and more. There are also rumours about an Apple tablet device with a robot arm being in development.
