New Delhi, October 18: Apple is rolling out a new feature to its payment services. Apple Pay now supports third-party web browsers and desktop computers. The update is expected to enhance the user experience by providing more flexible options for its customers to make purchases online. Apple Pay is also expanding its Buy Now, Pay Later services to make it easier for users to manage their payments.
As per a report of Engadget, Apple users can now use the payment service on third-party browsers on their iPhones, iPads, and on desktop computers. To complete payments on desktops, users will need to scan a QR code with their iPhone or iPad. The feature is said to be currently available in select markets. Users with iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 installed will benefit from this update, which is anticipated to make it easier to shop online. Apple is also introducing support for third-party Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services within Apple Pay. Initially, users in the US and UK can check out using Klarna. In the future, Apple plans to include additional BNPL options from companies like Citi and Synchrony, as well as eligible Apple Pay issuers through Fiserv in the US. Klarna will also be available in Canada later on. Users of Apple Pay in the US also now have the opportunity to earn rewards when they use eligible Discover credit cards during their purchases. Apart from these new features, Apple has made it easier for users to add supported cards to their Apple Wallet. The new Tap to Provision feature will allow users to tap an eligible NFC-enabled card against the back of their iPhone for quick setup. However, it is important to note that this feature may not be available everywhere and might require manual entry of security codes in some cases.
