Cupertino, September 6: Ahead of the iPhone 16 debut, Apple has approved the WeChat update submitted by Tencent for its IOS operating system. The latest version of WeChat comes with a host of new features that allow users to experience enhanced instant chatting experience. Tencent's WeChat update makes the chat app compatible with the upcoming iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 launch event, called 'Glowtime,' is set for September 9, 2024. The tech giant will unveil its next-gen iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. The Pro models are expected to dominate the Apple Glowtime event and have better specifications, features, and designs than the standard models. 

The 16 series of Apple's smartphones will come with Apple Intelligence features. These features are expected to be new compared to those announced during the Apple WWDC24 event in June 2024. An updated version of WeChat could be an addition to all the apps available for the upcoming device. However,  Apple and Tencent have reportedly been trying to reach an understanding as the WeChat provider has rejected all the demands of the iPhone maker thus far. 

According to reports, both companies have been trying to reach a level by considering future updates. Tencent is reportedly negotiating the revenue-sharing program within Apple's ecosystem with Apple. On the other hand, the China-based WeChat boasts 1.4 billion users in the country who regularly use the app for chat, bill payment, booking movie tickets, etc. All these charges are reportedly out of Apple's reach regarding charging fees. However, the iPhone maker can charge the mini-games.
