Airtel May Split Entertainment and DTH Units Under Restructuring Plan; Check Details

New Delhi, October 29: Airtel is reportedly planning to separate its Direct-to-Home (DTH) and entertainment divisions as part of a restructuring initiative to enhance the customer experience. The initiative is expected to allow each unit to operate independently, focusing on its core responsibilities. The shift in strategy is said to be Airtel's intention to adapt to market demands and focus on growth and competitiveness.

As per a report of Money Control, Airtel will separate its DTH services from the converged entertainment category. It is said to be a part of a restructuring plan to streamline its operations and enhance customer satisfaction. The new structure is expected to allow Airtel to focus effectively on each segment. Reports also indicate that Airtel is planning to make Customer Experience a separate function as part of its restructuring plan. As part of its restructuring plan, Airtel is reportedly planning to separate its DTH services from its entertainment offerings. The company may establish two different categories. One for connected homes, which will cover broadband services and entertainment, and another specifically for DTH services. According to reports, the Connected Homes category will focus on achieving fast growth in the market. The DTH category will concentrate on improving its efficiency.

According to reports, Siddharth Sharma, who is currently the CEO of DTH, will take on the role of Director of Marketing and the CEO of Connected Homes. Pushpinder Gujral, who is now the CEO of Upper North, will be appointed as the CEO and Director of DTH. Amit Tripathi, who is currently the Director of Marketing and Customer Experience, will transition to the role of Director of Market Operations. According to multiple reports, Shashwat Sharma, who is currently the Chief Operation Officer (COO), will be appointed MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel on January 1, 2025. Siddharth Sharma, Pushpinder Gujral, Amit Tripathi, and Shivan Bhargava will report to Shashwat Sharma. These changes are expected to take effect by April 1, 2025.
