Jeddah, Mar 5: The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which is touring Saudi Arabia in April this year post its flagship show of Wrestlemania, would be presenting the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' event in Jeddah, featuring 50 among the top company athletes.

The special event is aimed at further promoting WWE in Saudi Arabia, which has emerged as one of the leading consumers of online and television content produced by the sports-entertainment provider.

The 'Greatest Royal Rumble' would feature the performance of 16-time WWE champion John Cena, former World champ Roman Reigns and WWE title holder AJ Styles, apart from Braun Strowman, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, The New Day, Bray Wyatt and others.

WWE will be hosting the event in partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority. The event will be held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, and is expected to house the largest number of fans at a non-televised show of the WWE.

"The Greatest Royal Rumble will be a spectacle of historic proportions," said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. "Our partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority reflects a long-term commitment to present WWE's world-class entertainment to a global audience on a grander scale than ever before," said the statement issued by him.

The promotion of WWE in the KSA by state-run sports authority is being considered as part of the steps planned by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to rejuvenate the economy by 2030. The country aims to shift its core dependency from oil to hospitality, entertainment and tourism sectors in the next 12 years.
