WWE SmackDown LIVE Results & Video Highlights, October 16, 2018: Evolution Reunites, Rey Mysterio Returns on the Blue Brand’s Landmark 1000th Episode!

The latest show of SmackDown Live saw the blue brand celebrate its 1,000th programming, on October 17. The McMahons, Evolution, Rey Mysterio, and Edge return on the celebratory episode.

The latest show of SmackDown LIVE saw the blue brand celebrate its 1,000th episode, on October 17. The show began with the second episode of Truth TV where Carmella and R-Truth welcomed their guest WWE RAW Stephanie McMahon. Soon after, Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon joined her as the trio had a bit of banter in middle of the ring!

The first match in the night was a tag-team match between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles vs The Usos. The evenly-poised game saw an abrupt ending. Bryans ended up hitting a forearm to Styles, and the latter got super-kicked by Jimmy Uso after Bryans avoided it. The Usos ended up winning the match, eventually.

Also, present at the show were former SmackDown Manager Vickie Guerrero, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, and John Laurinaitis. Edge made a return to the show, and was involved in a segment between SmackDown’s Women Champion Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.

There were talks of the tag-team faction ‘Evolution’ comprising of Ric Flair, Triple H, Batista, and Randy Orton, reuniting at the 1000th episode of SmackDown. The WWE teased a future feud between Triple H and Batista. Here’s what happened next!

The Bar was crowned as the new Tag-team champions as they defeated The New Day is a gruelling contest. However, every fan in the arena was perhaps waiting for the match between Rey Mysterio and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The main event in the night saw a returning Mysterio vs the United States Champion Nakamura. The crowd got along in the match and chanted ‘you still got it’ as Mysterio gained the upper hand in the match. Both Mysterio and Nakamura tried to pin each other a couple of times; however, it was the former that prevailed in the non-title main-event match.

The announcers excited the tag team match of The Brothers of Destruction (Kane and The Undertaker) vs DX (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) at WWE show ‘Crown Jewel’ in Saudi Arabia next month. The Phenom grabbed the mic and said, “At Crown Jewel, he has three words for DX – Rest in Peace.” The 1000th episode of SmackDown LIVE went off-air as lightning strikes, and The Deadman raises his fist!
