The latest episode of SmackDown LIVE began with Randy Orton taking potshots at former United States Champion Jeff Hardy. Orton talked about how he deserved respect from fans but was devoid of it. He further added that he would take on every World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler because he did not get the respect he deserves.

After the opening segment, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair were seen backstage, talking about their SummerSlam match with SmackDown LIVE Women’s Champion Carmella. However, they reconciled and decided to be on the same page for their match against The IIconics, later in the night.

The first match saw the WWE women superstars involved in a tag-team match. It was Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair who won their match against The IIconincs. Carmella, who was by the ringside, talked trashed as the duo celebrated their victory.

AJ Styles came out and addressed Samoa Joe’s attack on the previous episode of SmackDown LIVE. Styles said that Joe made it personal when he brought his family into this. WWE Champion AJ Styles was quite upbeat; signing off, he said, “Joe won’t be walking out of Summerslam as WWE Champion title, and he’d be lucky to walk at all.”

There were quite a lot of other matches in the night that saw WWE crowd cheer their heart out. The storylines for the SummerSlam saw an excellent build up. We take a look at all the matches that took place at SmackDown LIVE.

In another segment, it was The Miz who mocked Daniel Bryan from the sets of Miz and Mrs. The Miz accepted Bryan’s SummerSlam challenge and insulted him left, right and centre. The fans went into a frenzied state as Bryan attacked Miz from behind (at the location of Mr and Mrs Miz Show). Bryan fought the guards standing by, and was eventually hit on his head by The Miz with a vase.

The last match of the night saw The New Day taking on The Bar in the finals of SmackDown LIVE Tag-Team Tournament finals. The acrobatic match between the two was an enjoyable watch.

The fans chanted ‘this is awesome’, a rarity these days, as the match progressed. Eventually, after a lot of to-and-fros, it was the tag-team of The New Day that won the match and set up their match against The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam. The new number 1 contenders, The New Day was celebrating, as SmackDown LIVE went off-air.
