Amidst all the controversies, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has decided to go ahead with the event in Saudi Arabia. WWE Crown Jewel will be the second WWE event that will be taking in Saudi Arabia in 2018, after Greatest Royal Rumble. The pay-per-view (PPV) event will be comprising matches from both brands, Raw and SmackDown LIVE.

Quite a few exciting storylines are heading into the Crown Jewel event. One of the most awaited matches in the night will be D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) vs The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane). The legendary superstars of WWE have built the hype meticulously, and it will be intriguing to see which tag-team has the last laugh in the night.

Another exciting contest in the night will be between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship which was vacated a couple of weeks before, when Roman Reigns dropped the title to deal with leukaemia.

WWE World Cup Tournament will be quite a spectacle for the fans too, as it will have favourite faces – Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, The Miz, Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton – competing to determine the ‘best in the world’.

With two of its top two superstars, John Cena and Daniel Bryan, pulling out of the event a week before the event, the WWE Crown Jewel event had its share of controversies too.

Earlier, the WWE was pressurised to cancel the event or postpone it to a further date citing the controversial death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Saudi consulate in Turkey. However, WWE said that the event would take place as scheduled due to contractual obligations.
