WWE Backlash 2018 Results: Fans Disappointed With Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe and AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura Matches' Outcome
The PPV had a series of exciting matches lined up in the night. However, with predictable outcomes and overly-dragged storylines, it was a night WWE fans would love to forget!
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans were left high and dry on Sunday night, as WWE’s latest Pay-Per-View (PPV) – Backlash – saw a lot matches ending in an expected manner. Their reasons to be disappointed were legitimate too – no Championship belts were exchanged; AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura match ended in no result, despite it being a No-Disqualification match; Roman Reigns won again, eventually; and, the storylines were simply dragged!
The major disappointment in the night was Samoa Joe’s defeat against Roman Reigns. Joe was dominant in the major part of the match. However, with WWE being too adamant to push Reigns as their top babyface; his victory by hitting his finishing move – Spear – on Joe to secure a victory out of nowhere, didn’t go down well with the WWE fans.
Another disappointment in the night was the ending of AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura No Disqualification Championship match, which resulted in double count-out. Of what was billed as a ‘dream rivalry’ between them, owing to their chemistry in Japan, the storyline is going from bad to worse, currently.
However, the highlight of the night was the WWE Intercontinental Championship match between Seth Rollins and The Miz. In a gruelling 20-minute match between the two, it was Seth Rollins who had the last laugh! It looked like that Rollins, a typical workhorse that he is, was the best WWE Superstar in the night.
Another match that grabbed a lot of eyeballs was Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass. There seems a healthy rivalry brewing between the two! Other than these two matches there weren’t many other matches which were interesting.
