World No Tobacco Day 2018: Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh Urge People to Quit Smoking

It is World no Tobacco Day and celebs have been urging people to quit smoking. In the morning we told you that popular sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik also urged people to quit tobacco. Joining the bandwagon are our star cricketers who promoted no smoking campaigns. Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to share their message.

Harbhajan Singh wrote, “This #WorldNoTobaccoDay I urge you all to quit smoking and chewing tobacco. Only you have the power to change your lifestyle. Be strong! #KickTheButt 🚭.”

“Smoking leaves an unseen scar, It fills your insides with toxins and tar. Put it out before it puts you out. #WorldNoTobaccoDay,” read VVS Laxman’s tweet.

“Tobacco companies kill their best customers. Please don’t consume tobacco, you are not a truck to emit smoke. Do yourself and your loved ones a favour , quit tobacco.  #WorldNoTobaccoDay,” read Viru’s tweet.

“Let’s make everyday a #WorldNoTobaccoDay ! @YOUWECAN,” wrote Yuvraj Singh.

Despite its ill effects, tobacco is one of the most common forms of addiction. The consumption of the same is escalating at an alarming rate. According to Global Adult Tobacco Survey, India is the second largest consumer of tobacco.  The sole aim of the World Tobacco Day is to focus on the impact of tobacco on the human body. This year the theme of the day is ‘Tobacco breaks hearts’. Globally, 1 out of 10 people succumb to the diseases related to tobacco. As per reports, 900,00 people die due to passive smoking.
