The Day 5 saw sports events – Halfpipe Snowboarding, Nordic Combined Skiing, Speed Skating, and Luge – take place. Biathlon and Slalom were postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

The fifth day of Winter Olympic Games 2018 saw strong windy conditions return at PyeongChang. The events that took place on Day 5 of the Winter Games were Halfpipe Snowboarding, Nordic Combined Skiing, Speed Skating, and Luge. Other sports events – Biathlon and Slalom – were, however, postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

United State’s Shaun White missed out on medals in the previous Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi. This was his chance at redemption as he was engaged in a close contest with a 17-year-old Japanese in Men's Snowboarding Halfpipe. After a dismal second run, White had little chance to clinch a Gold medal. However, using every bit of his experience Shaun White, had a spectacular final run which saw him make history at PyeongChang Games. In the Nordic Combined Skiing, defending champion Eric Frenzel was the fan-favorite entering into the event. Frenzel's jump wasn’t as good as expected; eventually, he was placed fifth going into 10KM Skiing-the next part of the Combine event.
