However, their extravagant wedding ceremony including nuptials in Italy followed by grand receptions on the home soil got tons of love from all quarters. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had a lavish Italian wedding on December 11. They chose to ditch the hustle-bustle of home country to tie the knot in Borgo Finocchieto. If the luxurious marriage ceremony at the serene palatial heritage resort was not enough to make us say ‘wow’, the couple threw massive wedding receptions in Delhi (on December 21) and Mumbai (on December 26). Virushka as the star couple is fondly addressed effortlessly wowed everyone with their surprise yet everything-in-order wedding.

2. Sunil Chhetri (Footballer)

The skipper of Indian football team wed Sonam Bhattacharya, daughter of Mohun Bagan legend Subrata Bhattacharya in Kolkata on December 4. The poster boy of Indian football side had been dating Sonam, a business management graduate from Scotland for years before marrying in 2017.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Cricketer)

Strike off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s name from the eligible bachelor’s list as the current Team India spearhead married his fiancée, Nupur Nagar on November 23. The young bowler hitched in a private ceremony in his hometown, Meerut. The couple later held two wedding receptions, one at Nupur’s native place in Bulandshahr on November 26 followed by a lavish reception in New Delhi on November 30.

4. Zaheer Khan (Cricketer)

After ruling the hearts of his female fans for years, Zaheer Khan finally found his match in Sagarika Ghatge. The 39-year-old former Indian pacer married Chak De! India fame actress in a court marriage on November 23. After a strictly private wedding ceremony, the star couple threw an opulent reception for their friends from the cricketing and filmy fraternity on November 26.

5. Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian (Wrestlers)

For Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian, it was a match made on the wrestling turf. The 25-year-old Olympic bronze medallist married fellow wrestler on April 2, 2017, in Rohtak. If Sakshi has made the country proud in 2016 Rio Olympics, Satyawart has also brought several accolades including bronze and silver medals in Asian and Commonwealth Games 2014.

6. Ashwini Ponnappa (Badminton Player)

Ace doubles badminton player Ashwini Ponnapa tied the knot with businessman and model Karan Medappa on December 25. The 28-year-old had announced her engagement to Medappa in an Instagram post on October 30. The wedding ceremony took place as per the rituals of Kodava tradition. Ashwini and Karan’s marriage were attended by tennis player Rohan Bopanna, and squash player Jyotsna Chinnappa.

7. Krunal Pandya (Cricketer)

Upcoming Indian all-rounder, Krunal Pandya married his long-time girlfriend Pankhuri Sharma at JW Marriott hotel in Mumbai on December 27. Right from the cricket-themed pre-wedding photoshoot to mehendi and sangeet, the functions were pure joy for the couple. Krunal’s younger brother and dashing Team Indian member, Hardik ensured his bhaiya and Bhabhi had the best wedding. The 24-year-old won everyone’s hearts with an electrifying dance performance on their sangeet ceremony.
