Virat Kohli Informs About RP-SG Indian Sports Honours Event Getting Postponed, Calls Pulwama Terror Attack a 'Moment of Heavy Loss'

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli tweeted that the RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed as part of mourning the loss of 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack on Thursday. The terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Awantipora has been condemned from all quarters and the nation is grieving the loss of 40 CRPF jawans in the attack. "At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow," added the Indian captain in his tweet.

On Thursday, a bus carrying over 40 CRPF jawans, which was part of a convoy of 78 vehicles with 2,547 CRPF personnel moving from Jammu to Srinagar, was attacked by an SUV laden with explosives in Pulwama, Awantipora area. The dastardly attack martyred 40 CRPF jawans and seriously injured over a dozen jawans. The mortal remains of the martyred CRPF jawans reached the Palam airport on Friday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal were present for the wreath laying ceremony. There is outrage all over the country over the dastardly attack on CRPF jawans. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condemned the attack on jawans and said that those behind the terror attacks will pay a heavy price for this crime. The Prime Minister also said that the Army has been given a free hand now.
