As Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Games gold, Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar lauded her for proving the strength of India's women. Vinesh defeated Japan's Yuki Irie in the 50-kilogram women's Freestyle final in Jakarta on Monday. India is currently in the 7th position.
Aamir Khan, whose "Dangal" about Vinesh's star cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari went on to be a blockbuster, tweeted: "Congratulations Vinesh for winning the Gold in the Asian Games. We are all so proud of you. Love, Aamir and the team of Dangal. Mhaari chhoriyan chhoron se kam hai ke!"

Vinesh Phogat defeated Japan's Irie Yuki 2-6 (technical points) 1-3 (class points) in the final match. With the win in the Women's freestyle 50kg category, Phogat became the second Gold medal winner for India at the Asian Games 2018.
Also, Vinesh Phogat has now become the first Indian woman to win a Gold medal at the Asian Games in Wrestling. Phogat's Gold medal was also India's second Gold medal at Jakarta Palembang 2018. On the first day of the multi-nation tournament, Bajrang Punia won a Gold medal, too, and that was won in Wrestling also.
