Vinesh Phogat Get Engaged to Fellow Wrestler Someer Rathi After Clinching a Gold Medal at Asian Games 2018

Vinesh Phoghat made the nation proud at the on-going Asian Games 2018 held in Jakarta. She clinched a Gold Medal by beating Japan’s Irie Yuki by 6-2. Now, a few days after winning the medal, Vinesh announced her engagement with Someer Rathi on social media. Sharing an adorable picture of herself and Someer, on Thursday, Vinesh let the world know about them being together.

Someer hails from Sonepat and is currently working as a TTE under the Indian Railways and is posted in Rajasthan. He is also a bronze medal winner at the National Championship at Pahalwani. Vinesh’s uncle also confirmed the news of the engagement to Dainik Jagran. Coming back to the picture posted by Vinesh, the caption of the snap read, “It has taken me the best decision so far, I am happy that you have chosen me for life."

Vinesh was recently in the news for slamming a Hindi newspaper, which claimed of romance between her and India’s javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Vinesh took to Twitter and wrote, “ Really sad to see that a simple gesture of being present when one athlete is chasing glory for #India is painted in the wrong light. Myself and @Neeraj_chopra1 and every other Indian athlete will support each other to ALWAYS make India proud, nothing more! Thank you (sic).”

Neeraj also responded to the news and posted a tweet which read, “साथी खिलाड़ियों का मनोबल बढ़ाना और उनके गर्व के पल में वहीं पे खड़े होकर उनको प्रोत्साहित करना ये हमारे लिए महत्वपूर्ण है. हर सच्चा खिलाड़ी यही करेगा. हमारा सोभाग्य है अपने देश के लिए मेडल आते देखना.”

Neeraj had even posted a tweet congratulating Vinesh Phoghal for her gold medal at the Asian Games 2018. Coming back to Phoghat’s engagement, we wish the couple many congratulations and lifelong happiness.
