Vinesh Phogat Blasts IOA President PT Usha Over Paris Olympics 2024 Disqualification, Says ‘I Don’t Know What Support I Got There’

Former Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has made some shocking claims about her disqualification at the Paris Olympics 2024 and stated that politics happened with her and she didn't receive any support from IOA president PT Usha.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat will be beginning a new innings as she is all set to fight the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Elections 2024 from the Indian National Congress. Phogat retired from wrestling and resigned from her government job at Indian Railways before joining the INC. Vinesh suffered heartbreak during the Paris Olympics 2024 when she was disqualified from the final of the women's 50 Kg freestyle event due to being overweight. Phogat defeated the world number one and was undefeated until making it to the final. However, ahead of the final, she had already assured a silver medal for herself. Vinesh Phogat is currently busy in her campaign for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Elections and while speaking to a local news channel, Phogat made shocking claims about her meeting with IOA (Indian Olympic Association) president PT Usha after heartbreak. Vinesh revealed that Usha just met her for the sake of a photograph and she didn't receive any support from her. Vinesh Phogat said, "I don't know what support I got there. PT Usha madam visited me at the hospital. One photo was clicked...Like you said, in politics a lot happens behind closed doors. Similarly, politics happened there (in Paris) as well. That's why I was heartbroken. Otherwise a lot of people are saying 'don't leave wrestling'. For what should I continue? There is politics everywhere."

Vinesh Phogat was among the wrestlers including Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, who were protesting against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers alleged him of exploiting female wrestlers and put up serious sexual molestation allegations against him.
