The US Open 2018 Women’s finals between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka turned out to be quite an ugly outing for the former as she was given a series of penalties during the game. One was for being coached by her coach from the box, the second was for smashing her racquet and third was for the verbal abuse where she was imposed with a full game penalty. She lost the match to Naomi Osaka by 6-2, 6-4 after she surrendered in the second set.
Serena during her argument went on to label the chair umpire Carlos Ramos a thief. The official body of the US Open sent out a statement and said that the chair umpire’s decision was final. Check out the whole statement here.

Andy Roddick also supported Serena in a series of tweets and slammed the poor chair umpiring. He even hailed Naomi for the way she played. After the match, Serena asked the crowd to not boo anyone. She played well," Williams said, pausing to compose herself. "This is her first Grand Slam. Let's make this the best moment we can." When it was Osaka's turn she seemed at a loss, apologizing to the crowd. It was always my dream to play Serena in the US Open finals," she added, turning to Williams herself. I'm really grateful I was able to play with you, thank you." Williams's outburst overshadowed an outstanding performance from Osaka, who made her second career title a Grand Slam after winning her first at Indian Wells in March.
