Madhwin Kamath, a tennis player, was arrested by the Cybercrime police in Ahmedabad after he allegedly pasted posters of a 21-year-old woman, labelling her as a sex worker. The 22-year-old was reportedly said to have pasted morphed posters of the woman across the city after downloading her picture from social media, which falsely portrayed her as a sex worker. This matter had come to light when the woman, as per a report in The Times of India, got a phone call asking her for her charges as a sex worker on April 1. The lady filed an FIR with the police, and the cops launched an investigation, which led them to finding Kamath's hand behind this incident. The report in the Times of India further adds that CCTV evidence of the 22-year-old tennis player's involvement in the case was found and the police soon started to look out for him. In April, Kamath was booked under Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 509 (intending to hurt the modesty of a woman) and 469 (forgery to harm reputation) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and Information Technology Act. The request for an anticipatory bail for Kamath was turned down by the judge of an additional sessions judge subsequently. He later granted bail after being arrested by the Cybercrime police. A report in the Ahmedabad Mirror stated that differences in business issues prompted Kamath to take up this step and damage the woman's reputation by committing this act.
