Wozniacki was stunned by Ons Jabeur 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 whereas Williams was defeated by Wang Qiang in the third round of the tournament. The decision has not only made her fans go sad but also her best friend Serena was quite sad and got welled up while speaking about Caroline’s career. After being defeated Serena address the press and she was asked about Wozniacki’s decision of handing up her boots from professional tennis. Williams went on to reveal that they both bumped into each other after their respective matches got over and Caroline came to her locker room. While answering the question of her retirement, her eyes welled up and she said that she was crying. “She’s had an amazing career. Oh my God, I’m getting emotional. Oh my. God, I’m going to miss her. Guys, I can’t answer Caroline question,” she said.
Serena Williams lost the match 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 7-5. Speaking about Caroline Wozniacki, in her 16-year-old career, she won about 30 WTA titles and holds the record of remaining at the top position in WTA rankings for 71 weeks throughout her career.
