The US Open 2018 Women’s final turned out to be quite a disaster for Serena Williams. The 36-year-old tennis ace was playing against the Naomi Osaka at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York and in an ugly turn of events, she bowed out to the 20-year-old Japanese tennis ace by 6-2-6-4. The game started off with the Japanese player getting off to a great start. While Serena was trying to make a comeback into the game, he was handed the first warning for allegedly getting coached from her box by the chair umpire Carlos Ramos. There came the first violation. Serena Williams bows down to Naomi Osaka

The American tennis ace was already annoyed with the same and as result smashed the racquet on to the court. Then came another violation along with the penalty. This did not go down well with Serena and she yelled at the umpire by calling him a thief and said, “You're attacking my character," she said. "You will never, ever be on another court of mine. You are the liar.” Watch the whole video below:

The US Open official even tried to calm her down but eventually, she was handed a full game penalty. The match resumed.

The 36-year-old surrendered in the second set and the game went to Naomi. After the match, Serena asked the crowd to not boo anyone. She played well," Williams said, pausing to compose herself. "This is her first Grand Slam. Let's make this the best moment we can." When it was Osaka's turn she seemed at a loss, apologizing to the crowd. It was always my dream to play Serena in the US Open finals," she added, turning to Williams herself. I'm really grateful I was able to play with you, thank you."

During the press conference, she said that she was fighting for women’s rights for the sexist remark, “He (Ramos) alleged that I was cheating, and I wasn't cheating," said Williams.  I can't sit here and say I wouldn't say he's a thief because I thought he took a game from me. But I've seen other men call other umpires several things. I'm here fighting for women's rights and for women's equality and for all kinds of stuff. For me to say 'thief' and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark.” Check out the video from the press conference:

During Williams's outburst overshadowed an outstanding performance from Osaka, who made her second career title a Grand Slam after winning her first at Indian Wells in March.
