Swiss ace Roger Federer and tennis legend Serena Williams will face each other for the first time in history, at the Hopman Cup. The American tennis star is all set to lock horns with Swiss maestro Roger Federer in the mixed doubles event of the upcoming Hopman Cup, which began on December 29.

Reflecting on the tournament, the 23-time Grand Slam champion said that she has always enjoyed playing in Australia as the audience here is warm and supportive.

She further praised her mixed doubles partner Tiafoe, saying that he has got a bright future.

"I always enjoy playing in Western Australia in front of the crowd at Perth Arena. The Aussie fans are so warm and supportive and the Hopman Cup always gives me a great start to the season, especially ahead of the Australian Open," HopmanCup.com quoted Williams, as saying.

"I haven't played with Frances in mixed doubles before, but have watched him from afar this year. He has a very bright future and I'm looking forward to being on-court with him, it will be a lot of fun," she added. USA and Switzerland mixed doubles team event is slated to be held on January 1, 2019.

Roger Federer has won a total of 20 Grand Slams, most by any male player in the history of the game. Whereas Serena Williams has won a staggering 23 Women's singles Grand Slam titles, the most by any female player in the history. (With Agency Inputs)
