Roger Federer cruised into the third round of the French Open 2019 for the fifteenth time. The Swiss tennis ace went on to defeat Germany’s Oscar Otte by 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. Federer will now lock horns against Norway’s Casper Ruud who is the son of a player who featured in the 1999 French Open when the Swiss star made his debut. Casper’s father Cristian had reached the third round of the French Cup when Roger Federer made his debut to the main draw at the age of 17. However, it looks like Federer does not know a lot about his opponent. He instead knows about his father a bit more. “I know probably more about his dad than about him. Even though I never played him, the father,” Federer said. “I know that [Casper has] improved a lot in recent years, and I think he plays very well on the clay. Again, I haven't seen him play a whole lot. But for any 20-year-old to be on the big stage, playing a top guy, on a centre court, that's what you dream of."
This is the first time that Ruud is making an entry into the third round of the contest as he defeated Italy's Matteo Berrettini 6-4, 7-5, 6-3. The 20-year-old is currently at his career-high rankings on number 63 and will surely be looking forward to facing the Swiss ace in the Round of 32 of the Roland Garros 2019 tomorrow.
