This was the 40th meeting between the great rivals and the fourth time that the great rivals were up against each other at Wimbledon. With this victory, Federer leads Nadal at Wimbledon 3-1.

However, the second set saw Nadal make an emphatic comeback as he beat Federer 1-6 to even the match at 1-1. But Federer unleashed his best as he took away the third set swiftly to win 6-3. It was clear that Federer wanted the match to end in the fourth set itself.
The fourth set saw Federer break Nadal early, something that the Spaniard could never recover from. However, Nadal showed why he is the best competitor in the sport as he fought till his last to save several match points. But it was meant to be Federer's day as the Swiss hit a formidable forehand to reach his 12th Wimbledon final. He will face Djokovic, who had beaten Federer in the 2014 and 2015 final of Wimbledon.
