Rafael Nadal, who is currently busy with US Open 2019, paid condolences to former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique after the death of his daughter Xana. Enrique's daughter Xana died at the age of nine. She was suffering from bone cancer. After listening about the terrible news, Nadal took to Twitter to offer his sympathies to Enrique and his family. Mentioning that he cannot imagine the pain of the family, Nadal said, "I just learned the terrible news of Xana's death. I am very sad and I cannot imagine the pain of the family". The Spanish tennis star also sent a hug to Enrique and his family to give them courage during the moment. "A huge hug to Luis Enrique and the whole family from a distance. A lot of strength and courage in these hard times!", Nadal wrote. In a statement, Enrique had earlier said, "Our daughter Xana has died this afternoon at the age of 9, after struggling for five intense months with osteosarcoma. We thank you for all the love received during these months and we appreciate the discretion and understanding." Enrique had recently retired from the post of Spain's manager in June 2019 to spend time with his daughter Xana, who was suffering from osteosarcoma - a type of bone cancer.

Meanwhile, Nadal is performing brilliantly in US Open 2019. The 18-time grand slam champion defeated John Millman in the first round 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. In the second round, Nadal surpassed Thanasi Kokkinakis, who opted out of the match and Nadal qualified for the third round. In the third round of US Open 2019 men's singles, Nadal will face Hung Chung on August 31, 2019.
