Cori Gauff Crashes Out of Wimbledon 2019 After 15-Year-Old US Tennis Player Loses to Simona Halep in Round of 16

Cori Gauff earned a wild card entry to Wimbledon and went on to win the three qualifiers to compete in the Championships. She won three matches and became the youngest Women's Singles player to reach the Round of 16 of the Championship since Jennifer Capriati in 1991.

The 15-year-old Cori "Coco" Gauff's dream run at her first ever Wimbledon came to an end in the fourth round on Monday. The American tennis prodigy, who made news and heads turn after her victory over the five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams in the first round, was defeated by World No 7 and Romania tennis player Simona Halep 6-3, 6-3, in the Round of 16. Gauff emerged as a tennis sensation after she beat Venus Williams. Her win over Williams was followed by a notable comeback against Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round. Gauff saved two match points against Rybarikova and showed that she is much more than a giant killer. Cori "Coco" Gauff also beat Polona Hercog in the third round to go beyond Wimbledon first week.
