However, the Amul's move on the issue has not gone well with many people on social media. The cartoon created a stir on social media many users have demanded Amul to take it down because they were disappointed that Serena Williams altercation with the on-court umpire has gained more limelight, than Naomi Osaka's win.

One user tweeted, "I love you Amul. But this is BS. Male players who act the same way are not penalised because they are just considered‚ passionate sportsmen‘ with a fighting spirit."

While Amul is slammed in India, an Australian newspaper has come under fire for publishing a controversial cartoon of Serena Williams. The cartoon by Mark Knight was published in the Herald Sun tabloid. It featured the American player stomping a racquet in frustration, while in the back the on-field umpire is seen asking Osaka, "Can you just let her win."
Several renowned personalities, sports broadcasters and journalists have slammed the cartoonist for being distasteful and politically incorrect. British author JK Rowling made her sentiments felt by calling out the cartoon to be "racist".
