The 2001 Wimbledon fourth round is also the only time when the legends Roger Federer and Pete Sampras played each other in a competitive match. The Swiss great beat the legendary American 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5. Though Federer did not win the 2001 Wimbledon, he would go on to lift a record eight Wimbledon titles at the All England Club and be termed the "King of Grass."
