Although Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova had offered an invitation to Andy Murray to team up with her in upcoming Wimbledon 2019 tennis tournament, the British tennis player seems to have some different plans for his mixed doubles partner. Murray, who made a classic comeback by winning the doubles title at Queen’s Club Championships with Spanish partner Feliciano Lopez, said he would like to have one of the Williams sisters in his mixed doubles team at Wimbledon 2019.

"I'd be up for that. They are both brilliant players," Murray was quoted as saying by Amazon Prime when asked whether he would like to have Serena or Venus Williams as his mixed-doubles partner at Wimbledon.

However, the 32-year-old tennis icon also mentioned that Serena and Venus may not be available to team up with him due to their busy schedules. "I don't know whether they'd be up for playing, they are both very busy. They normally play doubles together and I also appreciate if you have aspirations to go very far in the singles it is difficult to commit to the whole event as well," Murray further said. Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova As Wimbledon 2019 Mixed Doubles Partners? This Is What British Player Has to Say

The 214-ranked men’s singles player also revealed that he was turned down by French tennis player Kiki Mladenovic for teaming up in Wimbledon 2019, which is set to start from July 1, 2019. Earlier, Murray also received an invitation from Maria Sharapova for the Wimbledon event, which Andy turned it down not so subtly.

However, Murray expressed his views against the idea saying, “I mean, I haven't given it lots of thought, really. She's obviously done some - I think she may be won mixed at US Open once? Did she? I don't know. Did she not win it? No, she didn't? I think we played once together in the IPTL before, and I don't remember us playing particularly well together.”
