Indian female shooter Tejaswini Sawant celebrates her birthday on Thursday, September 12. The Ace Indian shooter turned 39 today. Sawant has been a big name in women's shooting in India, bagging multiple medals for India in World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Belonging from a defence family, Sawant rose to fame with  2006 Commonwealth Games, where she won gold medals in women's 10 m Air Rifle Singles and Women's 10 m Air Rifle Pairs.   • Tejaswini Sawant hails from Kolhapur city of Maharashtra.
  • Her father, late Ravindra Sawant, was an Indian Naval officer. He passed away in February 2010.
  • Sawant has two younger sisters- Anuradha Pitre and Vijaymala Gavali. Both of them are married.
  • Tejaswini is married to popular body-builder and social figure Sameer Darekar of Pune. The couple married on February 11, 2016.
  • The Indian shooter was felicitated with prestigious Arjuna Award in August 2011.

Sawant has clinched many laurels for India in the sport of rifle shooting. In her sporting career, the Indian sportswoman won a gold medal in 2010 World Championships in Munich (50m rifle), a bronze in 2009 ISSF World Cup in Munich (50m rifle), two gold medals (10m rifle pairs and 10m air rifle) in Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne, gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018, two silver medals in 50m rifle prone and 50m rifle pairs in 2010  Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She also bagged bronze in 50 m rifle prone pairs in the same event. These achievements are enough to prove that Tejaswini Sawant has toiled hard for her country in the sport of rifle shooting.
