India dominated the Day 5 of the South Asian Games 2019 as they bagged 28 gold medals across various sports. With this fantastic performance, India overtook Nepal in the medals tally and claimed top spot in the 13th edition of the South Asian Games. India ended Day 5 with 124 medals followed by Nepal on 101 medals and Sri Lanka on 107. The final day of the martial arts event saw India clinch a total of 19 medals. The Wushu martial artists from India won 13 medals on the day while Taekwondo fighters won six medals including three gold. The athletes from India will take part in various events on Day 6 including Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Fencing, Swimming, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis and Kabbadi. Siril Verma and Aryaman Tandon have set up an all Indian men’s badminton final and this means a gold medal is confirmed in that event. India also stamped their authority in the weightlifting event as the athletes bagged four gold medals. Swimming also saw Indian athletes dominate as they won a total of 11 medals in that event.
