The Shooting World Cup 2019 is currently underway at Rio De Janeiro where Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan made India proud by striking a gold medal in 10 m Air Rifle category and thus became the third Indian to achieve the feat. Prior to this, it was Apurvi Chandela and Anjali Bhagwat who had won a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup 2019. The 20-year-old struck a gold medal with 251.7 points while Seonaid Mcintosh from Great Britain took the silver with 250.6 points. KSS Shooting C'ship: Elavenil Valarivan Clinches Two Gold.

This is her first medal at the senior cup and the 20-year-old had previously won gold medals at ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney and Suhl in 2018. Gagan Narang shared the tweet about her victory on social media and congratulated her for the same. He also posted a video where Elavenil Valarivan was battling it out against her opponents.

With India already getting got maximum available two Olympic quotas in this event earlier. World number two Anjum has already secured a berth for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Apurvi Chandela has also booked her berth for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, the event turned out to be a mixed bag for India as Anjum Moudgil finished sixth in the 8-woman final. Whereas, Apurvi Chandela missed out on the final berth after finishing 11th in the qualification round.
