The incident took place at the Feroz Shah Kotla during Delhi Capitals’ 13th over when Ashwin warned the left-hander for backing away. When Ashwin crossed the umpire for his next ball, Dhawan at the non-striker’s end started dancing and twisting albeit keeping his bat inside the crease. The left-handed batsman was clearly trying to distract Ashwin. The incident reminded everyone of Ashwin’s mankading dismissal of Jos Buttler that caused the controversy earlier in the season during the Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals match. Since that mankading incident, the batsmen have become more careful now.

Meanwhile, against Kings XI Punjab, Dhawan scored his 35th IPL half-century. The left-hander was dismissed in the 14th over on an individual score of 56 runs from 41 balls. Dhawan smashed seven fours and a six during his stay. He also added valuable 92 runs for the second wicket with skipper Shreyas Iyer to help his side get near to the target.
