India won its first-ever medal in Sepak Takraw sport, earlier today while competing at Asian Games 2018. The Indian team, however, won the Bronze medal, but given the fact that it is India’s first-ever medal in the sport, it is a significant achievement in itself. With the win, India has increased its medal tally to nine!

The sport, Sepak Takraw, came into light since the early 90s, i.e. XI Asian Games in Beijing 1990. Since then, the game has never missed being a part of the Asian Games. Thailand dominates this traditional sport in the Asian continent.
With its debut win in the sport, the Indian team has now won 3 Bronze medals. The Indian team were placed on the 7th position on Day 3 of the Asian Games. So far, the Indian contingent has won 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals at Jakarta Palembang 2018.
